A collection of the knowledge I’ve recently captured.
Conceptual knowledge
Mathematics
- Probability
- Probability distributions and cumulative distribution functions
- A function which gives the probabilities of occurence of different possible outcomes for a given experiment tested with a hypothesis.
- A function which tells with a given percentage that X will be equal or less than the value at point F(p).
- Probability distributions and cumulative distribution functions
- Probability mass function
- Probability that a discrete random variable will be exactly a given value.
- Stochastic process
- A process that happens randomly and can be modeled by a family of random variables. For example, the movement of gas molecules.
- Curves
- Logistic vs logorithmic (more)
Sciences
- Critical exponents near phase transitions: the universal behaviour of physical quantities near continuous phase transitions.
- Prosaic/transformative AI when we reach AGI
- The idea that we’ll build an AI that doesn’t reveal anything new about humankind or the world. Similar to the idea of transformative AI.
- Determined by evaluating the algorithmic process, the cost of computation, and the willingness to spend on computation. Secondary concerns are the amount of training data required to create the model and the amount of data to use the model. [[from Forecasting TAI with biological anchors (link)]].
- Re-inforcement learning
- Local hidden variable theory
- Chaos and non-chaos
- Dis-order free, localisation
- Isentropic – no additional entropy added.
Computer Engineering
- Reversal computing – Fredkin and Toffoli gates
Philosophy
- Socrates
- The aporia – inconclusiveness
- Plato
- The delusiveness of senses and perception.
- aristocracy (rule by the virtuous, knowledgable, and dispassionate), meritocracy (rule by the knowledgable), epistocracy (rule by experts), timocracy (rule by the seekers of wealth, honour, and status), oligarchy (rule of the many by the few), plutocracy, tryanny, anarchy, and democracy (everyone has the freedom to make and break laws)
- agrapha dogmata, the unwritten doctrine
- the definition of the system of Reality
- What is the right kind of life?
- What is the best kind of society?
- What is knowledge and how do we get it?
- What is the fundamental nature of reality?
- Justice as balance and harmony – between the individual and the state and the soul.
- Aristotle
